Error: 0x8807A0006-‘Hung’ (FIX) – The Matriarch

Some players of The Matriarch reported issues regarding game crashes with this note: Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost.(Error: 0x8807A0006-‘Hung’). This can really be a pain when you just want to enjoy your game. To fix this issue, you can try any of these methods.

No. 1 – Do not Overclock your GPU

If you are overclocking your GPU, reset it. If you have some applications that are running while you are playing the game that might be overclocking the GPU, close them to prevent this error.

No. 2 – Do a Clean Installation of Graphics Driver

If you are using Nvidia, use this link: https://www.nvidia.in/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-in

If you are using amd, use this link: https://www.amd.com/en/support

Visit the websites, and then select your graphics card to search. When you find the correct driver, click on download and run the .exe file. In the installation options, choose Custom (Advanced) and then on the next page, tick the Perform a clean installation box, and then click next.

Once that is done, reboot your computer and try launching the game again.

No. 3 – Set TdrDelay value to 10

In the Windows search bar, look for Registry Editor and open it. In the Registry Editor, expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder, and then expand the SYSTEM folder, and then the CurrentControlSet folder, then the Control folder, and finally select GraphicsDrivers.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers

In the GraphicsDrivers folder, right click and click on New and select DWORD (32-bit) Value. Rename this file to TdrDelay. Select TdrDelay and change the Value Data to 10. After this, try to reboot your computer and launch the game.

No. 4 – Run the Game on the Dedicated Graphics Card

If you are using a laptop with dual graphics card, use the dedicated graphics card (Nvidia or AMD) when you run the game. To check this, just go to Settings > System > Graphics settings. In the Graphics settings, click on Browse, and then go to the game installation folder. In this folder you will find the game .exe file, and then click on Add. Once added, click on Options, select High Performance, and click Save.

Launch the game to try it out.

No. 5 – Verify the Game Files

If any of the above does not work, you may check if the game files have been verified. To do this, go to Steam, right click on the game and choose Properties > Local Files and then click on Verify integrity of game files… and then try to launch the game.
