First of all, you will need to find the statue that you can pray on. It is a black–looking angel type of statue that can be found in most that you will encounter.
Then once you find it you will want to walk to it and interact with it. You will get a menu from that you can choose lots of options for. In this menu, you will choose the Costume.
Then while here you will get a costume to choose from. You can modify it a bit and then just select it as is shown in the picture down below.
You can see what types of costumes you actually have and what you are down. You can also read about the unlock conditions on what you will need to do to unlock them and such. Then once you see them here you can actually place them as 1-2-3 or something else in your dressing menu. Now once you have them like this, you will go to your main menu options and do this:
