Tera Raid Battles is one of the newest features in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This is another way for players to fight against Pokemon with a twist. In Tera Raid Battles, it is a four-on-one challenge wher participating team players choose one Pokemon that they will be using to defeat a Terastallized Pokemon.
In this guide, we will show you how to counter the 7-star Charizard in a Tera Raid event in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!
How To Counter The 7 Star Charizard Tera Raid Event – Pokemon Scarlet And Violet
This particular event is special and winning players can be rewarded with a Charizard. However, this Tera Raid is particularly difficult and not everyone can be victorious. This battle will be the first 7-star Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet which made it more exciting.
In order to participate in the event, you have to complete the post-game story which unlocks Black Tera Raid Crystals. This will give you access to 6-star Tera Raids.
The Charizard that players will be facing in this event is expected to be stronger at level 100 which makes it a really formidable opponent. So Charizard is a fire and flying type Pokemon but it will probably be Terasterized into a dragon type for the event.
Charizard would most probably be built like in the picture below. This includes four of its most powerful moves as a potential moveset; and with EVs dumped to HP for expectedly long battles and Special Attack for a higher damage output.
With this in mind, one of the Pokemon that could counter this would be Azumaril. Azumaril is both fairy and water type, which is already a good counter in a sense, but it will be Terasterized into fairy type.
Azumaril is resistant to fire moves, immune against dragon moves, and neutral against steel attacks. For the held items, it is recommended to use the assault vest which will automatically boost a zoomero special defense by one stage but will lock you into using only attacking moves. Another option is a choice band which will automatically boost your attack by one stage but will lock you into one move.
These two items should not cause any issues since Azumaril’s moveset is composed of attacking moves only.

The best EV spread for this Azumaril is shown in the picture below.
Since Azumaril already has the Huge Power ability and four physical attacks, EV will be spread to attack and HP.
The best Azumaril that you can get in-game is the one found North of Casseroya Lake.
It will be hard to miss since this Pokemon is practically glowing in the water.
This Azumaril automatically has the fairy Tera type and cannot be knocked out in one hit. You have to knocke it out of Terasterization first before catching them.
Once you have caught Azumaril, you have to EV train it and max the IVs, and finally get them to level 100 for it to be up and ready to face the 7-star Charizard.
The Charizard Tera Battle Event goes live on Thursday, December 1. Remember, only one Charizard will be awarded to winners per save file. Good luck and catch that Charizard!
