Potion Permit is one of the newest sim games on Steam with striking similarities with the classic Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley, but with a combat twist like Rune Factory. This game had been quite enjoyable so far, but there are some things that are not that intuitive the first time you play it.

If you think you overlooked some things when you first played Potion Permit or if you are about to play the game for the first time, here are 5 things that you need to know.

Best Tips & Tricks Guide – Potion Permit

Tip #1: Walk Through Mobs

If you do not want to fight, there is actually no need to avoid mobs in the area where you are collecting your resources. Except for the bears, most of the mobs are actually not hostile towards you and just ignores you entirely. Unless you hit them purposively or by accident, they will not attack you and you can just walk through them in any case.

Tip #2:  Collect Everything

The first quest that you will be given in Potion Permit sends you to Meadow Range where you have to collect three basil, three jasmine, and three daisy.

Just exploring around the area can easily help you find these items. What they don’t tell you though, is that you’re going to need not just these three items in the next quest. Hot tip: you’re gonna one Bear’s Paw and Sap from the trees.

Why? Because the game mechanics to craft potions actually requires you to assemble puzzle pieces together where each resource has a different shape and can be combined in a number of different ways. So while you can craft the wound cleanser from the three flowers, the neutralizing herbal balm in the next quest is going to require you at least one other item.

Tip #3: Collect Monster Droppings from Mobs

Mobs like the slime and little mushroom bunnies actually give monster droppings when you kill them using any of the tools.

Tip #4: Use your Dog’s Find NPC Skill

Your pet dog actually has a very special role in the game – it has a find NPC skill. When you meet a person for the first time, you can have your dog track them if they’re available on the map. These NPCs have their own set schedule and it is possible that you can predict where you can possibly find them.

However, if you are having trouble finding somebody in the map, this tool can be very helpful.

Tip #5: Check the Message Board

Like most sim games, improving your friendship with the villagers is important for the game’s progression. Once you have your friendship at a certain level, you’ll see that it actually triggers some cut scenes.

And most of these cut scenes require you to be in a specific place and time to set them off.

What is good about Potion Permit is that when you have one of these friendship events, it will notify you on the message board. Some events will be pretty straightforward and would be completed just by getting there, while others would require some kind of a mini quest to complete, which means you have to go to other places while in the event.

And that’s it for 5 tips and tricks that you need to know in Potion Permit! Enjoy!
