The Barbed Trap is amazing.

Barbed Trap in Elder Scrolls Online has been a popular skill players have used in their PVE build over the past year. The barbed trap skill has zero casting time and deals damage for about 20 seconds. With the release of the Public Test Server for Elder Scrolls Online’s Scions of Ithelia DLC, the barbed trap skill is getting some major changes.

In this Elder Scrolls Online guide, we will discuss everything you need to know about the tweaked Barbed Trap skill.

Barbed Trap Skill Changes – ESO

When the public test server for Scions of Ithelia Dungeon DLC and Update 41 dropped last month, there were no changes to the Barbed Trap Skill. However, last week, the skill got its first change – which turned out to be an indirect nerf.

In the public test server, the new Barbed Trap skill now deals an increased initial damage (20% increase). This itself sounds like a buff, but it isn’t. Because there is a damage buff, the devs have changed the hemorrhaging effect of the skill to apply only once.

This change is very massive because the skill in the current live server applies the hemorrhaging effect multiple times.

Also, there is a chance that you can apply hemorrhaging effect ten times in the current Live servers. According to the patch notes, the reason for this change is that the hemorrhaging status effect is also receiving some buffs.

That said, gameplay from the test server shows a clear difference in overall bleed damage. In other words, when Update 41 drops in March, you will have to make some critical changes to your PVE builds with barbed trap. Bleed sets like Aegis Caller and Pillar of Nirn will have to be in your build if you still want to use the Barbed Trap Skill.

Looking forward to trying out the Barbed Trap Skill Changes? The Scions of Ithelia DLC and Update 41 were released for PC/Mac on March 11. Xbox and PlayStation Console users will have to wait till March 26.
